SUNDAY DESSERT #24: Babka (Cinnamon vs. Chocolate)

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Intermediate

INSPIRATION: Inspired from the Seinfeld episode 'The Dinner Party'. Elaine prefers chocolate babka and swears cinnamon is the "lesser babka". Jerry's response? "Cinnamon takes a backseat to no babka!" Well, we shall see today which is actually the superior babka!

RECEPTION/COMMENTARY: A good mix between a cake and a brioche bread, the Jewish babka is both visually appealing and appetizing.

Chocolate babka swirls are made with quality European dark chocolate, powder sugar, and cream. Cinnamon babka has a buttery, cinnamon and brown sugar streusel inside. Yum to both, right?

So which is better? Well, in the battle of the babkas Jerry was right. "The answer is invariably cinnamon. Cinnamon! Again and again. Lesser babka? I think not!" 10/10! Seriously! Every person in our family thought cinnamon was the superior babka. Even Jared, the lover of all things chocolate, preferred the cinnamon. Chocolate was still amazing too, though. That one was 9/10. Really you can't go wrong making either. I mean, it's babka!!!

WOULD I MAKE IT AGAIN? Yes! Can you imagine the possibilities?! French toast and bread pudding would be solid experimental options.
