SUNDAY DESSERT #8: Baklava
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Turkey 🇹🇷 (but very popular throughout all the Mediterranean)
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy but time consuming
INSPIRATION: It's a double excitement for us this week. Today is my son's half birthday and this week is my birthday! Baklava is still my ALL TIME FAVORITE dessert (so far, that is) so it seemed an appropriate choice for the celebration!
RECEPTION/COMMENTARY: Let me start by saying that not all Baklava is made equal. The recipes vary and some are drier and more bland than others. I think using pistachio nut and having a good ratio of moisture to crispness (a.k.a. not soggy) is the key to the best tasting baklava. Anyway, I feel like I'm kind of cheating this week because I've definitely made this dessert before. But, we're celebrating so... who cares! Personally, I think this dessert is absolute honey nut crunch golden moist perfection. It's a straight up 11/10 for me! No, that's not a typo. 😂😋
WOULD I MAKE IT AGAIN? Lol!!! Do I even need to answer this one?
