SUNDAY DESSERT #2: Bienenstich Kuchen (Beesting Cake)

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Intermediate


INSPIRATION: A couple years ago, I made this cake from a World Market cake mix. We loved it so much that I thought I would try it from scratch!


RECEPTION/COMMENTARY: This cake tasted pretty good! I had to make it twice because the first attempt didn't quite taste right. The recipe called for 2 teaspoons of cream of tartar to make the filling more stiff. But it made the cream taste SO sour and it ruined the cake as a whole. So I made it again and reduced the cream of tartar to a 1/4 teaspoon. Much, much better! Overall, I'd give this cake an 8 out of 10.


WOULD I MAKE IT AGAIN?: Yes! Honey almond crisp on top of yeast cake with honey cream inside?? Uh...yes please!!
