SUNDAY DESSERT #16: Caramel Apple Empanada


COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Spain 🇪🇸


DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy-Intermediate


INSPIRATION: Even though these originated from Spain, they are obviously popular throughout all Latin American countries including Mexico. Since Cinco de Mayo is coming up, let's bring on the festivities early!!


RECEPTION/COMMENTARY: Who doesn't love a good caramel apple? And empanadas? The marriage of these two classics is pure brilliance! Shaping the dough takes some practice, but these babies are pretty easy to make overall. And they are incredibly delicious!! It's like a Spanish apple pie. Mmmmmm. 9/10 for our family rating. Olé!


WOULD I MAKE IT AGAIN? ¡Claro que sí! And these are so easy to freeze and reheat that it's worth making a large batch for a yummy snack anytime the craving hits!
