SUNDAY DESSERT #76: Khao Niao Ma Muang (Mango Sticky Rice)
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Thailand 🇹ðŸ‡
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy
INSPIRATION: I love mangos (mangoes?...there's debate on the proper spelling) and they are finally in season! It's a fruity and lightly sweetened dessert that makes for a perfect summertime treat. ðŸ¥
RECEPTION/COMMENTARY: This easy Thai dessert is basically a coconut-flavored rice pudding. Even though I'm not a huge fan of coconut, this stuff is pretty good! The rice on its own is sweet and light and has a nice crunch from the toasted sesame seeds. The coconut flavor isn't overpowering either which is a plus for my taste. Pairing that sweet rice with the tangy, juicy mango brings it up to a whole new level of yum. It's the perfect marriage of flavors and textures! We gave it a 7/10.
WOULD I MAKE IT AGAIN? Yeah, I would. It's the perfect ending to an Asian-themed dinner.
