SUNDAY DESSERT #14: Pane di Pasqua
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Italy đźđč
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Intermediate
INSPIRATION: Easter! This bread is literally translated "bread of the paschal" or known as Italian Easter bread.
RECEPTION/COMMENTARY: First of all, this is the most beautiful bread I've ever made in my life! And it tastes like a delicious sweet roll with a hint of orange flavoring. I love it! Perfect for Easter breakfast. But since it is more of a bread than a dessert, I'd rate it an 8/10.
This bread is chock-full of Easter symbolism. The braided round is supposed to represent the crown of thorns laid upon Jesus' head and the egg symbolizes rebirth or His resurrection. I used several colored Easter eggs, but traditionally only red-dyed eggs are used to portray the blood of Jesus Christ during his suffering in Gethsemane, the scourging, and finally on the cross. What a beautiful bread to help commemorate the life and acts of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and a reminder that He is our Bread of Life and that He does, indeed, live!
WOULD I MAKE IT AGAIN? From now on, I will be making this every Easter as a teaching tool for our kids. â€đ·đ„đŁ âïž
