SUNDAY DESSERT #11: Pavlova
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Australia 🇦🇺 or New Zealand 🇳🇿 (each country will SWEAR they made it first...it's quite the feud).
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy
INSPIRATION: I don't know about you, but I am soooo incredibly done with winter. With this weekend's warmer weather here in Salt Lake, I just had to make something that fit the mood of spring! (Also, where my Bluey fans at?!)
RECEPTION/COMMENTARY: Named after the Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova, this dessert was invented in her honor when she came to tour Australia (and New Zealand). The meringue base is supposed to look like a dancer's tutu and the whip cream and fruit on top are the decorative embellishments.
The meringue cookie is amazing! It's crispy, chewy goodness on the outside wraps around the soft, marshmallowy interior (as you can kind of see from the picture) and it all just melts in your mouth to perfection with each bite. I could just eat the meringue alone without all the other stuff. And I did! Most of them didn't even get a chance to be decorated. 😂 However, it is pretty sweet especially with the cream so the addition of tangy fruit is great for balance of taste. This is easily a 9/10 for me; 10/10 according to Jared. Yum!!!
WOULD I MAKE IT AGAIN? Yes! But I might just make the meringue tutu to indulge my sweet tooth.
