Schaumrolle

Updated: Mar 11, 2023

SUNDAY DESSERT #17: Schaumrolle (Cream Horns)

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Austria 🇦🇹

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy

INSPIRATION: In Rochester, NY there's this amazing little place called Jackson's bakery. It has TOP NOTCH pastries! Whenever I would go there, I always got a cream horn. Since we obviously can't go there as easily anymore (living in Utah), I wanted to make them for Mother's Day as a special reminiscent treat. ❤️

RECEPTION/COMMENTARY: I used a real puff pastry recipe to make these this time and they are SO much better than store bought puff dough. You can fill these horns with meringue or whipped cream, but I filled mine with vanilla buttercream like they do at Jackson's. Yum!!! Delicious crispy sweetness. However, still not as good as Jackson's (darn) but close! So it's a 9/10. Also, the hazard in eating these is accidentally inhaling the powder sugar topping. "Choking" on powder is not a fun experience, let me tell you. Haha! Have any of you ever done that before?! 😅

WOULD I MAKE IT AGAIN? Mmm hmm. And now I'm on a mission to make them taste EXACTLY like Jackson's. Challenge accepted!
