SUNDAY DESSERT #72: Trifle

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: England 🇬🇧

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy

INSPIRATION: Memorial Day weekend means red, white, and blue dessert.

RECEPTION/COMMENTARY: An ever popular and common dessert choice, the classic trifle is both easy and beautiful. There are various ways to make it, too. The traditional fillings include rum-soaked cake pieces, jelly, fruit, and whipped cream. But you can fill and layer the trifle with pretty much anything! I've seen cinnamon rolls and doughnuts substituted for cake and chocolate mousse and banana custard used instead of cream. It is very versatile. And economical as well! If you ever have any leftover cake or sweet breads, you can put them to good use by making a trifle!

I made my trifle with pound cake layered with blueberries, raspberries, vanilla custard, and whipped cream. And the marriage of all those components is sweet, tangy, and creamy. It's a perfectly festive treat for Memorial Day! 10/10!

WOULD I MAKE IT AGAIN? Of course! It's simple and delicious which makes it an easy go-to dessert for any occasion.
